Gas prices are highest ever for this time of year
NEW YORK -- Gasoline prices have never been higher this time of the year.
At $3.53 a gallon, prices are already up 25 cents since Jan. 1. And experts say they could reach a record $4.25 a gallon by late April.
"You're going to see a lot more staycations this year," says Michael Lynch, president of Strategic Energy & Economic Research. "When the price gets anywhere near $4, you really see people react."

Ancient meteorite standing between one Iowa town and its water supply
The remains of a 1.5 mile-wide, 10 billion-ton meteorite are causing problems for a small Iowa town, 74 million years after it crashed onto the Earth's surface at 45,000 miles per hour.
The Des Moines Register reports that the 1,600 residents of Manson, Iowa are struggling to locate a site for the town's well due to the geological impact of the meteorite. The crash created the underground Manson Crater—which has a diameter of 24 miles and reaches into four neighboring counties.
"It's hard to predict exactly what you are going to hit," state geologist Robert Libra told the Register. "It's a jumbled mess."

Top Executive Recruiters Agree There Are Only Three True Job Interview Questions
1. Can you do the job?
2. Will you love the job?
3. Can we tolerate working with you?
That’s it. Those three. Think back, every question you’ve ever posed to others or had asked of you in a job interview is a subset of a deeper in-depth follow-up to one of these three key questions. Each question potentially may be asked using different words, but every question, however it is phrased, is just a variation on one of these topics: Strengths, Motivation, and Fit.

Whitney Houston's Mystery Friend Was Also Michael Jackson's Pal
Here’s the one person in the Whitney Houston story whose name you have not heard, and who has remained a mystery: a Dutch man from Amsterdam who goes by the name of Raffles van Exel. He is also known – in court records—as Raffles Dawson and Raffles Benson. He was on the fourth floor of the Beverly Hilton Hotel in one of Houston’s suites when she died. He appeared downstairs in the lobby shortly thereafter, wearing aviator sunglasses, sobbing.
Syrian forces open fire on thousands marching in Damascus funeral procession ...
By Associated Press, Updated: Saturday, February 18, 7:54 AM
BEIRUT — Syrian security forces fired live rounds and tear gas at thousands of people marching Saturday in a funeral procession that turned into a protest in Damascus, killing at least one person, activists said. It was one of the largest demonstrations in the capital since the 11-month-old uprising against President Bashar Assad began.
Several people were reported wounded and the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said security forces dispersed the protesters and were conducting a campaign of raids and arrests in the Mazzeh district.

At Whitney Houston's funeral, faith more than fame
(CNN) -- A close friend of Whitney Houston's family may have said it best: They would have loved her, even if she couldn't sing.
But how she could sing.
Houston, the six-time Grammy Award winner and only artist to consecutively chart seven No. 1 hits, will be remembered Saturday in the Newark, New Jersey, church where she performed as a child in front of her family and community.

Scary Basketball!!! Determining exactly who turned the lights out in Indianapolis
As you can see above, during the second quarter of Indiana's 93-88 win over the New Jersey Nets on Thursday, the lights went out. Darren Collison was attempting to make an entry pass to center Jeff Foster, who was around before indoor lighting, when the main rack went out with 8:08 left in the first half. It was a brief break, mass hysteria did not ensue, the generators clearly left the backup lights running, along with the lit-up advertisements that run alongside the sidelines.
